The popular Exhibition Grounds Park in the city centre has recently undergone extensive reconstruction.
Enjoy pleasant relaxation amidst lush greenery while overlooking the colourful flowerbeds. The Park was named in the times of the great exhibitions organised in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The summer house of the music pavilion, the Dancing Women (Tančící ženy) sculpture by V. Sapík and the water fountain with the statue of a girl by K. Kotrba are today the only reminders of the former very beautiful exhibition pavilions.
Municipal Theatre
The Municipal Theatre was built between 1906 and 1909. The interior was designed by Viennese architects Fellner and Helmer, while the Secessionist-style exterior was designed by architects Kříženecký and Králík. The allegorical curtain was created by Theodor Hilšer, a leading Czech painter. The Theatre has been the home of a permanent drama group since 1945. Many well-known Czech actors began their careers right here.
