The 3rd annual Metal Symposium Project held in the Secondary Industrial School premises in Mladá Boleslav finished on Friday 12th June. This time, artworks were presented by six sculptors from various European countries. The artists were Alain Bouvet from France, Thierry Lauwers from Belgium and, for the first time, representatives of Switzerland (Vincent Desmeules), Ireland (John Hogan) and Finland (Jesse Sipola). Czech Art Smithery was represented by Václav Holer, who created the Czech Lion sculpture in collaboration with Lukáš Buchta.
Throughout the week, mainly pupils and students from schools in Mladá Boleslav filled the premises. This opportunity for them to see sculptors at work was a valuable and interesting experience. Interested members of the public were also allowed to attend and observe the sculptors throughout the week. Within the Symposium, the accompanying programme included the Barbecues of Signal Radio, a performance of Jazzdance by Moulin Rouge, the Children and Youth Centre's dance performance, and a concert by Seven.
The final sculptures were exhibited in the Olympia Shopping Centre. However, you will be able to continue to admire these metal sculptures as they are going to be placed in the park near the Saint Gall Church (Kostel sv. Havla). Like those from previous Symposiums, they will shape the character of our city in an original way.
