After the 4th Metal Symposium, we once again asked artists to recommend people from among their colleagues. We announced that he or she could be from another continent. Tim Roosen recommended several people, out of whom we addressed John Haley III.
Of course we were pleased to hearthat he would attend the Symposium. His work represents beautifully balanced symmetrical creatures. His material requirements were simple, the only problem was that he was not used to a coal forge – he quickly became accustomed to it, however. From time to time, some of his fellow artists had an itch for his materials and John Haley was willing to give up some of them. We told him he did not have to share everything, merely because he was better prepared than the others and that this handing out of materials could be detrimental to his work, which we did not want.
When he finished his work, he wondered what to call it. On the Friday evening, he announced that he would call it “Kréature Boleslav”. “Kréature Boleslav” is a reproach to humanity for its poor treatment of Nature.
