Metal symposium 2018
Like every year, we had been given tips for interesting artists from Tim Roosen. This year, he recommended a French artist whose name is Nes. After visiting her website, we approached her, but had to wait for her answer for a while as she had to go abroad for work. We waited impatiently for her response and thankfully she accepted our invitation.
Nes had very special material requirements, such as bike gearboxes and old chains of power saws. It was not easy to get them, but we enquired at a bicycle repair shop. There, they helped us, so we quickly complied with this request. Getting the saw chains was a tougher proposition. Then it occurred to us that woodcarvers could help us in that respect. They did indeed and Nes could even take a few chains home – since there is never a sufficient supply of chains.
During the Symposium, she sometimes had concerns about getting access to the right tools. We reassured her that she had requested everything in advance and therefore had the priority right to them. She immediately got to work and the results were quickly visible. She incorporated gearboxes and saw chains into her beautiful work, which she called "Another World".
The work is now waiting to be installed in the perfect site. Until then, it is located at Klaudian Hospital.
