Tobbe Malm contacted us in 2016 to attend the 4th annual Metal Symposium. However, since all places were already occupied, it was not possible. After having seen his website, we were very interested in his work and asked him to promise to participate the following year. He agreed and confirmed his attendance in 2017. We were surprised when reading the submitted list of required materials where he asked for a tailor’s female mannequin. However, we already had experience with unusual artists' requirements and this was no exception.
Tobbe Malm is a very versatile person. Besides the blacksmith’s art, he is also devoted to photography and music. On the day before his arrival, he made an electric "guitar" out of blacksmith's tongs. One evening, during the Metal Symposium, he even played this guitar, winning not only great applause from the audience but also the admiration of other artists. His work is called “Ikarus-Opus Ferrum”. You can see it in the Metoděj Vlach Aircraft Museum. His work became the first sculpture to be installed indoors, as it is partly made of plastic (the mannequin) and rain could degrade it.
