We also discovered Zeevik Gottlieb on social networks. We asked Zeevik to participate in the Metal Symposium 2020, but as the other artists, he could not participate as the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus epidemic. We found out that Zeevik Gottlieb once won the world championships in artistic blacksmithing in Stia, Italy. Once we were certain that we can have artists travelling again, we invited him, and he was luckily still interested in participating. Although Zeevik Gottlieb’s luggage did not arrive, he did not let this spoil his day. His good mood was infectious, and it was joy to watch him at work.
On the first day, we discovered a spare pair of working shoes at the Secondary Industrial School to lend to Zeevik for his work and had to buy socks for him. He was willing to pause his work from time to time to demonstrate to the visitors fast and relatively simple methods for creating art. He also delivered these presentations for other participants and students at the Secondary Industrial School and none of the students missed the opportunity to see him. He created a statue from pipes, sections and tubes for us, using new technologies. According to him, he used the new procedure for his artworks for the first time during our event. His luggage arrived at the hotel on Monday and Tuesday was a day to celebrate, as he finally has his own clothes and working shoes.
His artwork entitled Friendship was the first to be installed. The artwork depicts two persons holding, trusting and helping each other. Their interaction takes place on a plant with a flower with a hidden David’s star on the top. The statue is installed in Jan Palach street in front of the head offices of Centrotherm.
