The Metal Symposium had been running for three years then. We started to seek partners for the fourth year and the Municipal Theatre in Mladá Boleslav was one of them. The company was just being handed over to the new management and Janeta Benešová showed us what she organised for the previous symposiums. Photographs of the statues were nice but there was a problem with arranging the material, tools, accommodation, etc. again. When we found out that only material (wood) and accommodation needed to be arranged, a major worry was eliminated.
Installation of metal statues was not as prompt as the organisers had anticipated and the subsequent installation of additional wooden statues would only make the problem worse. We were inspired by the photographs by Ms. Benešová, and the idea of woodcarvers creating benches over the first two days of the symposium as an accompanying program came to life. Woodcarvers were a welcome addition to the program exactly at the time when the work of metal sculptors was not yet visible.
Therefore, we spread our nets wide and tried to obtain more information. A local woodcarver recommended Václav Lemon and the theatre director helped us get in touch with Martin Kučera. Václav Lemon was not free on the specified dates but confirmed that he would be happy to participate in future if a similar event was repeated.
